Material
- Ornetin is manufactured using an industrial injection molding process in recyclable high-density polyethylene (HDPE). This material is weather- and UV-resistant. It washes perfectly and will last for many years.
- The caps and nozzles are made of PETG
Maintenance
- The days of 3D printing are behind us. It allowed us to launch the concept in 2021-2022, but it was less robust and more sensitive to temperature (no hot water, no dishwasher).
- The HDPE Ornetins are more compact and uniform. Their surface roughness is also controlled and specially chosen to allow hornets to grip with their legs, without dirt sticking to it.
- Simply rinse the trap under running water to reuse it again and again.
- The UV-reflective treatment is integrated into the material and does not wear off.
Installation
There are mainly two trapping methods depending on the season:
In spring, for trapping queens, remove the green caps to allow Vespa germanica to exit and use the blue nozzle. The best bait for this period is a mixture of red fruit syrup / light beer / white wine in equal parts (33% each). Pour to a height of 1 cm and place the trap in a vertical position.
In summer and autumn, put the green caps back on and replace the nozzle with the purple one. The best bait at this time is sugar syrup poured onto an absorbent material such as straw. Place the trap horizontally, either on the ground or suspended.

Returns
If you are not satisfied with your Ornetin trap, you may return it within 14 days of receiving it. Items must be unused and in their original condition. Return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility unless the product is defective or incorrect.
Hello, 3 asian hornet systems installed with queen ring, got nearly 2 or 3 hornets per system since 1 month. I'll refill them tomorrow and install them with worker ring. Sorry for my english ;)
Je suis très contente, ces pièges fonctionnent parfaitement avec les bocaux le parfait, réutilisables et recyclables et en plus ils se fondent dans le paysage . Déjà 9 reines piégées 💪🏻 . En revanche je partage l’avis précédent pour une casquette ou un toit au dessus, la suggestion de le mettre à la verticale au printemps entraîne un problème certain de dilution de l’appât

It´s now not the right time to judge the trap. It´s autumn +3 - 6° in the morning and raining all day long. Nevertheless we catched in one week 8 asian hornets. I think in half a year i will order some more trap to increase the amount of catched asian hornets. Good idea and thanks a lot!
Excellent quality product. I ordered them late in the trapping season. I took Ornetin guy's advice -- I used prawn heads for bait as the workers would be looking for protein -- within hours several Asian Hornets were trapped. The other good thing is -- it was only Asian Hornets trapped -- no other species. We have so many of them here in northern Portugal. I am looking forward to catching some queens next spring. By far the best Asian Hornet traps I have used.

Bonjour,
Assurez-vous d’utiliser la buse violette en été et en automne. Elle est plus restrictive que la bleue, qui est destinée au printemps et justement conçue pour éviter autant que possible de piéger le frelon européen (Vespa crabro).
Si cela ne suffisait pas, nous disposons également d’une buse noire, encore plus restrictive. Je peux vous en envoyer un exemplaire par courrier afin que vous puissiez la tester dans votre environnement.
Concernant l’efficacité du piège à cette période de l’année, il faut savoir qu’une fois que les frelons ont repéré les ruches, le piégeage seul ne suffit généralement plus à les protéger.
C’est pourquoi le piège et la muselière sont complémentaires en saison : le piège permet de réduire la pression des frelons autour du rucher, tandis que la muselière protège directement la ruche et permet aux abeilles de continuer à sortir malgré leur présence. Les deux dispositifs sont donc conçus pour fonctionner ensemble.

Efficient and easy to instal
Le piège Ornetin est efficace surtout mis à l'horizontal, avec l'ouverture légèrement en hauteur pour empêcher l’appât de couler. Au fond du pot "Le Parfait" (les autres marques ne fonctionnement pas), mettre de l'herbe ou du sopalin, puis verser un mélange 1/3 sirop de cassis + 1/3 bière brune + 1/3 vin blanc. Et surtout laisser les frelons emprisonnés attirer leurs congénères...

After 4 weeks of use and several re-fills with the sirop/vine/beer mix on kitchen paper, I just got the first catch of 2 asian hornets, one certainly a queen. one fly could not make it out, sorry for her. I am glad that it worked! I put the trap on a big oak tree trunk, close to where I usuall see other insects hanging around in the sun.
I have already caught two queens!

The Ornetin trap retains only Asian hornets, reducing unwanted captures of

Set-up is simple: place two spoonfuls of beet or berry syrup on an absorbent
material such as straw or cotton, and position the trap in a strategic
location.
We recommend checking and emptying the trap every week. Captured hornets
should be immersed in water for six hours before cleaning and rebaiting the
trap.
