Material
- Ornetin is manufactured using an industrial injection molding process in recyclable high-density polyethylene (HDPE). This material is weather- and UV-resistant. It washes perfectly and will last for many years.
- The caps and nozzles are made of PETG
Maintenance
- The days of 3D printing are behind us. It allowed us to launch the concept in 2021-2022, but it was less robust and more sensitive to temperature (no hot water, no dishwasher).
- The HDPE Ornetins are more compact and uniform. Their surface roughness is also controlled and specially chosen to allow hornets to grip with their legs, without dirt sticking to it.
- Simply rinse the trap under running water to reuse it again and again.
- The UV-reflective treatment is integrated into the material and does not wear off.
Installation
There are mainly two trapping methods depending on the season:
In spring, for trapping queens, remove the green caps to allow Vespa germanica to exit and use the blue nozzle. The best bait for this period is a mixture of red fruit syrup / light beer / white wine in equal parts (33% each). Pour to a height of 1 cm and place the trap in a vertical position.
In summer and autumn, put the green caps back on and replace the nozzle with the purple one. The best bait at this time is sugar syrup poured onto an absorbent material such as straw. Place the trap horizontally, either on the ground or suspended.

We ship worldwide. Orders are prepared and dispatched on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Delivery times vary depending on the destination country and carrier. Please note that orders shipped outside the EU may be subject to local customs duties and import taxes.
Returns
If you are not satisfied with your Ornetin trap, you may return it within 30 days of receiving it. Items must be unused and in their original condition. Return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility unless the product is defective or incorrect.

Collecting and Emptying the Trap
Submerge the trap in water for at least 6 hours to safely neutralize hornets, then clean and reuse. Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance.

The Ornetin trap retains only Asian hornets, reducing unwanted captures of
other beneficial insects. Its design ensures superior efficiency and long-lasting reusability.
Set-up is simple: place two spoonfuls of beet or berry syrup on an absorbent
material such as straw or cotton, and position the trap in a strategic
location.
We recommend checking and emptying the trap every week. Captured hornets
should be immersed in water for six hours before cleaning and rebaiting the
trap.
Homemade and bottle traps often attract other insects without being effective, and require constant maintenance. Ornetin offers a targeted, easy-to-maintain, environmentally-friendly solution, with proven effectiveness against Asian hornets.
