Ornetin is manufactured using an industrial plastic injection process with recyclable High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE).

This material is weather- and UV-resistant, easy to clean, and built to last for many years of use.

We have moved beyond 3D printing, which helped us get started and validate the concept in 2021–22, but had lower durability and higher sensitivity to temperature (not suitable for hot water or dishwashers).

HDPE Ornetins are more compact and uniform. The surface texture is carefully controlled and specially designed to allow hornets to grip securely with their legs, while preventing dirt from sticking permanently.

A simple rinse under running water is enough to make the trap ready for use again and again.
