Installazione sull’arnia:
Abbiamo progettato il montaggio per renderlo il più semplice possibile: una sola vite è sufficiente per fissare l’intera struttura all’arnia.
Periodo di installazione:
Installala alla fine di giugno, quando inizia l’attività dei calabroni.
- È preferibile posizionarla al mattino, così le api possono riorientarsi durante il primo volo.
- Le api potrebbero impiegare alcune ore per abituarsi al nuovo ingresso di dimensioni maggiori.
Manutenzione durante la stagione:
- Occasionalmente, le api possono lasciare residui all’interno. Per pulire la struttura, solleva leggermente la Maschera e scuotila delicatamente: i residui cadranno facilmente.
- Rimuovi il dispositivo entro la fine di novembre, a meno che tu non preferisca mantenere l’ingresso più riparato durante l’inverno.
- Facoltativo: vernicia le parti in legno per armonizzarle con l’estetica dell’arnia e aumentarne la durata.

The Ornetin Muzzle
(Asian hornet entrance protection) is available in two versions:
- Dadant – Nicot (MUNI): designed to fit directly on Nicot Dadant bottom boards.
- Dadant – Adapt (MUDY): a universal version with adjustable sides that can be adapted to other Dadant hive configurations.

It is recommended to install the muzzle during periods of high Asian hornetactivity, typically from late summer through autumn, when colonies are most at risk.
The Ornetin Muzzle significantly reduces hornet intrusion and pressure at the hive entrance. While no solution guarantees 100% prevention, it greatly improves colony defense and reduces successful hornet attacks.

creating a controlled entrance that makes it harder for Asian hornets to attack
or enter the hive. Bees quickly adapt to the modified entrance.
Yes, you can attach the muzzle to a plastic hive using drywall anchors. It’s a simple, clean, and durable solution.
The side openings are designed to allow drones (male bees) to exit the hive, similar to the side passages commonly found on pollen traps. Since drones are larger than worker bees, they cannot pass through some of the narrower protection areas.
The green plugs are provided to close these side exits later in the season, when hornet pressure increases and drones are no longer present in significant numbers. This helps maximize hive protection during peak predation periods.
